Family Day in the Garden on Saturday

DiggingWe invite folks to Family Days in the Garden twice each spring and once each fall. And the second spring date is coming right up – Saturday, May 17, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Please join us if you can and even for just a short while.

Please also note, however, that although we really value the building skills and elbow grease that we’ve harnessed on these days, there is more to these get-togethers than just work. As members of the school community and the community beyond the school, we know there is something inherently positive in families and faculty members and in kids and adults and in knowledgeable growers and first timers working together for the benefit of Myers students and their community and getting to know one another on different terms than the usual school relationships.

We have plenty to do. We have moved five beds away from a spot where tree roots are encroaching, but still need to seat them in their new locations. We have some set-up work for a sunflower-planting extravaganza still ahead. We have a host of carpentry plans that we’d like to tackle. And we might even put seeds in the soil, harvest a few greens and pull a few weeds.

Hope to see many of you there. But if other plans keep you away, we’ll try again probably in October!
